ATTENTION ALL COMPETITORS AND JUDGES! Below is important information regarding this week's tournament, February 9-11, at Stanford University. Please read EVERYTHING thoroughly and carefully.
Do not share Tabroom.com accounts with anyone - only use your own Tabroom.com account. Before the start of the tournament, be sure to have your log-in credentials readily available. Make sure your Tabroom.com account is connected to both your email and your cell phone, so that you receive notification on both.
The tournament will charge us a $150 fine for any judges that did not set up their Tabroom.com account correctly. Do not contact the tournament staff if you have a problem with your account. Instead, if you have any questions, text Mr. Raskin at (657) 229-3153 or email [email protected]. Include your name, location, and description of your issue in your message.
Please don't leave campus until you confirm with Mr. Raskin that your judging obligation is completed. On Sunday, you are obligated to judge elimination rounds even if your own child does not advance past preliminary rounds. All judges are oblogated to judge double-octafinals. If Washington HS has any students reach double-octafinals, ALL Washington judges will be obligated to judge octafinals; if we have any students reach octafinals, all Washington judges will be oblgated for quarterfinals etc.
Be present at every applicable judge call. There are no exceptions to this rule. Checking in on behalf of absent judges or judging rounds in their place is strictly prohibited and will result in fines.
Possess a device that can connect to the Internet and access a web browser. We recommend carrying a charger with you.
Press the Start Round button on Tabroom.com for Flight 1 as soon as you receive your ballot. If you haven’t done so within 5 minutes of the scheduled start time (or notified the tabroom of missing competitors), the tournament will assume you’re absent and assign another judge to your round. Being late to a round will result in a $75 fine for a preliminary round flight and a $150 for an elimination round flight. Press Start Round for Flight 2 as soon as Flight 1 is over and you have verified that all competitors are present.
Every round consists of two flights. Do not click Start Round for both flights at the same time - wait until flight 1 is over until you click Start Round for flight 2.
If you do not have cellular/internet connection in your room and cannot click Start Round, stay in your room and proceed to judge the round. A tournament staff member will come by the room and click Start Round on your behalf. As long as you're in the room when the round starts, the tournament will waive the fine if connection issues prevent you from clicking Start Round.
If any competitors are absent, contact the tabroom immediately by completing this form. For debate events, there’s a strict 5-minute forfeit rule for Flight 1 and a 1-minute forfeit rule for Flight 2. The tournament will normally release pairings at least 30 minutes prior to each round.
If your assigned room is locked or occupied, notify the tabroom immediately by completing this form.
Stanford's internet connection is not always reliable. Make sure to have access to internet. Bring your phone, laptop, or any device that can connect to the internet. You can check pairings on tabroom.com, through your email, and on your phone.
Be present for morning judge check-in (Building 420, Room 041, see schedule below) each day you are judging. Judges who are not present at the check-in will be dropped from the tournament, and Stanford will issue a $75 fine for each preliminary round that judge was obligated for, plus a $150 fine for each elimination round that judge was obligated for.
DO NOT GET FINED. IF YOU DO, IT IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CLUB TO PAY THE TOURNAMENT, IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE JUDGE TO PAY THE FINE.
Any spot labeled "A" or "C" is available for parking without permit during the weekend. For more information on parking at Stanford, visit the Stanford Parking Information page.

All attendees must have the Slack app installed on their phone and have their Slack notifications set as "Direct Messages, mentions & keywords." This will ensure that you get a notification when an officer makes an important announcement, but won't get notifications for regular messages unless you check the channel. Also, change the 'timing' setting on your notifcations to 'As quickly as possible' rather than the default setting of 'After two minutes'. You must check your notifications as soon as you receive them, unless you're in round.
